Homework
Your child will bring their homework home every Monday and should return it the following Monday. This will usually alternate between maths and English/grammar (SPAG). Homework may be used to support other areas of the curriculum too. We politely request that parents mark the work with their child so that any misconceptions can be addressed when returned to school. If they are struggling with any aspects please just write a note on the homework.
Spellings
Spellings will be tested each week on Monday and the new list will be given out following the weekly test. A spelling book will also be sent home with the spellings in.

Thursday 18 June 2026 Skylarks - Continents and Oceans of the World Today, the children have been exploring world maps. They used atlases to identify the location and shape of the continents and then used this knowledge to help them locate the 5 oceans. They have learnt that Asia is the largest continent, the Indian Ocean is the warmest ocean and the Arctic Ocean is the shallowest. The children then made their own world map games to help them practise locating the oceans and continents. We will play these each week to help us remember them all!

Wednesday 17 June 2026 KS1 Trip to the Mosque KS1 spent the morning at a mosque in Bradford. We were met by Imam Jamal, who spoke to us about how Muslims perform Wudu (washing ritual-ablutions), the times of prayer, the positions of prayer, names of Allah and we had a tour of the mosque. We spent time outside looking at the minarets and the green dome. We learnt that the Imam stands under the dome so that everyone knows the direction of Mecca. Some children got to sit in the Imam’s chair and use his microphone. We finished our visit with a drink, a biscuit and a ride on a double decker bus.
