Woodpeckers - Databases and Oracy
In our first lesson about databases, Woodpeckers played a Top Trumps style card game to help us learn how databases work. While we were playing, we talked about important words like records, fields and data and learned about the different ways databases are used in everyday life.
We also focused on developing our oracy skills by practising how to speak in clear, full sentences. To help us do this, we used sentence stems to explain our thinking, ask questions and respond to each other’s ideas.
It was a fantastic introduction to databases, with lots of great teamwork, thoughtful discussions and confident speaking.
