KS1 Trip to the Mosque

KS1 spent the morning at a mosque in Bradford. We were met by Imam Jamal, who spoke to us about why Muslims take their shoes off in the mosque, how Muslims perform Wudu (washing ritual-ablutions), the times of prayer, the positions of prayer, names of Allah and we had a tour of the mosque. We spent time outside looking at the minarets and the green dome. We learnt that the Imam stands under the dome so that everyone knows the direction of Mecca. Some children got to sit in the chair of the Imam and use his microphone. We finished our visit with a drink, a biscuit and a ride on a double decker bus.

A big thank you to the Madni Jamia Masjid in Bradford, for allowing us to visit and to Mrs Hussain for demonstrating ’wudu’ to all the children.
