Meet Penny and Ben

Following on from our Neurodiversity celebration week, two of our neurodivergent pupils wanted to share with us what makes them different from their peers and what makes them, them.  They have created short video clips which we are sure you will agree are amazing. Thank you, Penny and Ben. It really helps us to know what works well for you in school so that we can ensure you are getting the support you need to thrive.

New Sensory Room

Take a look at our amazing new sensory room. This is a quiet, calm breakout space in school where children can come to have time away from their busy classrooms. It helps to regulate their emotions and reset them ready to return to lessons.

Thank you so much to Mr and Mrs Maan who very kindly offered to fund the project initially and kick started the journey. We have been able to repaint the space, add sockets and a plush carpet as well as add in some sensory equipment to support the sensory needs of our children. We managed to gain some further funding from Yeadon Charities Association for some additional sensory activity stations and a donation from one of our other families allowed us to provide other equipment too.

On seeing the new space, Mr and Mrs Maan said:

'We acknowledge that the school is trying hard to keep up with many different needs of children which can impact teaching and classroom atmosphere.  When this sensory room can be used to help improve moods and emotions, it benefits everyone, not just the children using it'.

Thank you so much to all of you for such generous and kind donations. It is already making a huge difference to so many of our children.

I really like that the school teaches everyone about neurodiversity.
