Spring Entry Point

Ducklings Welcome Spring

Our Ducklings had a wonderful time taking part in a very special Spring entry point to begin our new topic.

The children were excited to receive a letter from Henry the Hedgehog, who had just woken up from his long winter sleep. Henry wanted to know if spring had arrived, so he asked the children to become Spring detectives and go on a hunt around the school grounds to look for signs of the new season.

The Ducklings carefully explored outside and discovered lots of wonderful signs of spring. They spotted new flowers beginning to bloom, green shoots growing in the soil, birds singing in the trees and warmer sunshine in the sky. The children were very excited to share everything they had found and talked beautifully about the changes they could see in the natural world around them.

After our spring hunt, the children were delighted to receive another message from Henry. He was so pleased to hear that the Ducklings had found signs of spring and asked them to draw pictures of what they had seen so that he could look at them when he woke up during the night. The children worked carefully to create their own lovely spring pictures, showing flowers, sunshine, birds and fresh green leaves, before placing them into a special box for Henry to find.

This magical experience helped the children to develop their observation skills, communication, understanding of the world and creativity, while encouraging curiosity about the changing seasons.

We are looking forward to continuing our learning about Spring over the coming weeks.
