Ducklings Celebrate Earth Day

Our Ducklings have been learning about Earth Day and discovering how we can all help to care for our planet.

To begin our learning, the children were excited to receive a special letter from Henry the Hedgehog. In his letter, Henry explained that while he had been snuffling around the school garden at night, he had noticed some litter around the school grounds. He told the children that it made him feel sad because the outdoor spaces are homes for animals and insects too. Henry asked the Ducklings if they could help him to tidy the school grounds for Earth Day and make the environment clean and safe for everyone.

The children were very eager to help. Wearing gloves and carrying bags, they went on a litter hunt around the school grounds, carefully searching for rubbish that did not belong there. The Ducklings worked together wonderfully to collect the litter and take care of the space around them.

As we explored, we talked about why it is important to look after our world and how even small actions can make a big difference. The children spoke about how litter can harm wildlife and how putting rubbish in the bin helps protect plants, animals and our school environment.

Back in the classroom, the children reflected on how proud they felt after helping Henry. They enjoyed knowing that they had done something kind for the Earth and for the creatures that share our outdoor spaces.

This meaningful activity helped the children develop their understanding of caring for the environment, while encouraging teamwork, responsibility and respect for the natural world.

We are very proud of our Ducklings for being such caring little Earth helpers.
