Skylarks learn about Harry Ramsden!
As part of today's history lesson, the children learnt about Harry Ramsden and his fish and chip business. They learnt how Harry Ramsden started selling fish and chips in a small wooden hut near White Cross before building his own glamorous restaurant with wall-to-wall carpets, wooden panelling and even chandeliers!
On the 21st anniversary of the business, Harry sold fish and chips at a special promotional price, meaning that 10,000 people bought fish and chips from his shop that day - a world record breaker!
The children created their own time lines and loved to find out that Harry Ramsden also sold his fish and chips to Moon's Mills (we are also learning about the life of Abraham Moon) and its workers.
We are really loving finding out about the history of our local area!
