Imaginary Trip to the Beach
Herons took a creative trip to the beach. We began with a warm up game of odd one out encouraging the children to speak in full sentences and explain their reasoning clearly with a partner.
Next, we imagined a day at the beach. Using items linked to holidays, sounds of waves, and a guided visualisation, the children explored what it might feel like to be by the sea. This helped them focus on using their senses and descriptive language.
Following this the children worked in small groups acting out typical beach scenes like surfing, relaxing on a sun lounger and playing volleyball. Each group created a freeze frame, and children described what they were doing using clear, confident voices.
Great work!
