In Herons, we have been looking at different seeds and bulbs. The children were given 11 different seeds to investigate which they spent time looking at and feeling. In groups of 3 or 4, they were told to sort them (with no further instruction). All of the groups ordered them by size. We then ordered them by shape and colour. We then discussed that the seeds were either; vegetable, fruit or flower. The children ordered the seeds into these three groups.
Next, we sowed pea, spinach beet and spring onion seeds. We are keeping them near our classroom to look after them by making sure they have plenty of water. Fingers crossed we will have some vegetables by the end of the year!
