This week in Woodpeckers, we have taken a look at how the strength of earthquakes are measured. To begin with, we had a discussion as to how we thought we could measure the strength of earthquakes. We spoke about looking at the damage it had caused to the planet or by thinking about how it felt. After this, we looked into Seismographs and the Richter scale. Once we had learned how they work, we of course had to have a go at creating our own versions using just our tables, paper and pens. We even had a go at sharing and describing our graphs to the class, letting everyone know how high the earthquake had reached on the Richter scale and the damage it had caused to the Earth. It was a lot of fun!
