We’ve come to the end of our first half term, and what a half term it’s been! We were so pleased and excited to welcome all our children back to school in September and determined to work hard to keep our families and staff as safe as possible, whilst also trying to make school feel as warm, welcoming and as ‘normal’ as we possibly could.
For us, this half term has been all about welcoming the children back and placing a focus on wellbeing. The teachers have spent time really getting to know their new classes, assessing the impact of lockdown and identifying areas of lost learning over the last six months. Parents of children in year 1 to year 6 will receive your child’s pupil mentoring information home this week. This will give you all the information you need at this point in terms academic targets for this year and any additional intervention or support we feel would be of benefit to your child. Children in Early Years will be bringing home their ‘Learning Journey’ books. These will give you an overview of what your child has been up to in their first half term at school. We are so proud of them all – they have settled in brilliantly!
Things continue to be very far from normal in many respects in school but we are so proud of the children for the way they have adapted to our new routines and are throwing themselves into every part of school life with their usual enthusiasm. Whilst we realise that the challenges of the pandemic will continue to affect us for a while yet, we are sure that together we can continue to make this a positive school year for our children. On behalf of the school, I’d like to say a huge thank you to all our families for your amazing support, kindness and understanding this half term – it really is very much appreciated by us all. We’re looking forward to coming back after the short break and starting to prepare for our usual Team Tranmere Christmas celebrations, in whatever form we can make these happen! We hope you all have a restful and safe half term.
Finally, and on a personal note to the whole staff team – THANK YOU. You are all amazing.
