Today, children from across school took part in a DT/Computing challenge day. 2 children from each class were selected who showed an interest/aptitude in these subjects. For DT, the children followed instructions to make pizzas using a broad range of cooking skills. The children used the bridge and claw techniques alongside spreading, kneading and grating.
In computing, KS1 children created algorithms for a beebot. Following on from the pizza making, the children had to ensure that the instructions were accurate and correct them if they made mistakes (debug).
In KS2, the children entered the prices of the pizza items into a spreadsheet. They used formulae to calculate the total expenditure and the price per pizza.
