To kick off our new Topic, The Greeks, we have spent the afternoon in Ancient Greece competing in the first ever Olympic Games! To begin with, we learnt all about the history of the games, and used some ancient artefacts to discover which sporting events took place, who could compete in them, and the wider roles some people had. We then had a go at some of our own events, competing in chariot racing, the javelin and running races. To finish, we had a discussion around how the games have changed over time, comparing things we know and have seen in the modern day Olympics, against what we’ve learnt today.
