As part of our topic on ‘Fabulous Food’ we had great fun during our Muddy Puddle Day. We explored what else we could do with food. First we looked at the Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo and found out he created portraits using fruit and vegetables. During the day we used our imagination to create our own, solving which fruit would represent each facial feature. We got rather messy making repeating patterns with different vegetables and talked about the shapes and textures they made. We learnt the song ‘Oats and Beans’ whilst pretending to be farmers digging up the harvest and then we acted out the story of Handa’s Surprise.
