This afternoon we all enjoyed making jam tarts. We learnt how pastry is made by rubbing butter into flour and rubbing it carefully with our finger tips to create the breadcrumb appearance. We kneaded the pastry on a floured surface and chilled in the fridge.
Other techniques we needed to demonstrate were cutting and rolling the pastry to the thickness of a £1 coin, and using cutters to create circles. we greased the tins with butter and placed the pastry discs carefully into the tins. We filled the discs with jam and decorated the tops with a star.
Obviously, the best bit was tasting our creations – I think you can see from the smiling faces that they were all delicious. If you’re lucky there may be a spare one for you?
