Today, Eagles used practical equipment to explore greater than, less than and equal to. They used cubes to help them understand this key vocabulary and its associated symbols <, > and =.  Brilliant effort, Year 1!

Today, Eagles explored greater than, less than and equal to using concrete apparatus. Some children completed a problem solving task, where they had to identify statements that were true or false. For example 6 is less than 4 or 8 is greater than 5.

This month is national Oracy month and alongside this half term’s theme of ‘Be a Speaker,’ the children prepared short presentations about their favourite toys. As part of our work on place value, the children have been representing numbers in different ways. Today, the children used the ‘write it, draw it, show it’ grids to represent their learning. Today, Eagles class have been sorting a range of objects into groups. The children sorted objects according to their colour, size or type. Here we are enjoying our practical Maths session!

As part of our local geography study we have been learning about the UK. We have learnt to identify the countries, capital cities, landmarks and seas surrounding the four countries of the United Kingdom. We have played lots of practical games and have used atlases to deepen our understanding.
