To kick off our topic , the children all brought in their own evacuee bag containing six items they would take if they had to leave their house suddenly to be evacuated – we had some very interesting items including tins of tuna and pack of tea lights! We then looked at the items which would have been packed by an evacuee in 1940 and discovered there were many similarities, including a teddy bear and pack of cards. A very interesting discussion followed about how times had changed but that children still rely on the same things to bring them comfort.
