Today in English, we have been learning all about direct speech. To begin with, we discussed what direct speech is and used the books from our reading area to find some examples in different texts. Here we discussed the key features surrounding each piece, which helped us to establish the basic rules of writing direct speech. After this, we listened to the direct speech song to cement our learning of these rules. After the 6th…or 600th listen…it was well and truly STUCK in our heads! Feel free to ask us how it goes…
To finish, we split off into different pairs to have a go at writing various pieces of direct speech to go with a range of different pictures. The new song we had learnt came in very handy here!
