This month is national Oracy month and alongside this half term’s theme of ‘Be a Speaker,’ the children prepared short presentations about their favourite toys. They focused on the key areas for speaking – speaking clearly and confidently, giving eye contact, talking in full sentences and using intonation to keep the listener interested.
We were so impressed with the preparation the children had put into their presentations as part of last week’s homework. Firstly, we spent the afternoon completing a carousel of activities, exploring the key skills of speaking. Then, the children completed their presentations and their peers gave constructive feedback. It takes a lot of courage to present to your peers and we were so proud of them all. Well done KS1!
